1.  NeLC Professional Certificates

 

• What is NeLC Professional Certificates? 

A document granted by the National eLearning Center in one of the eLearning fields stating that the holder meets the minimum competencies for that certificate. 

• What is the purpose of the NeLC Professional Certificates?

 

NeLC Professional Certificates are offered to the eLearning practitioners to achieve excellence in performance and enhance trust in practices.

• What is the professional certificate language?

Arabic language.

• Is application allowed for Saudi nationals only?

Citizens and residents can apply for the certificate, provided they reside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

• Is NeLC Professional Certificate- Advanced Level based on training?

The Advanced Level Certificate requires passing a test, while the Foundation Level Certificate requires training and practice.

• Are the NeLC Professional Certificates accredited?

All the certificates are accredited by the National eLearning Center. 

• Are the NeLC Professional Certificates accredited in Faris?

Coordination with the competent authorities is in progress to accredit the NeLC Professional Certificates. 

• What is the mechanism followed if I encounter a problem with registering on the Professional Certificates Platform?

     2. NeLC Professional Certificates Levels

• Are there levels of professional certificates?
  The basic certificate is the advanced professional certificate, but the applicant may need to earn the foundation level if they don’t fulfill the eligibility requirements for the certificate to be an entry point for earning the advanced level certificate.
  
  
• What is the difference between the foundation and advance level?
  • Foundation Level: The foundation level requires training and practice; the applicant may need to earn it if they don’t fulfill the eligibility requirements for the advanced level to be an entry point for earning the advanced level certificate.
  • Advanced Level: The advanced level certificate requires passing a test, valid for (4 years) and can be applied for immediately after fulfilling the eligibility requirements.

 

•  How can the applicant determine the level of the appropriate professional certificate for them?
  By reviewing the professional certificate eligibility requirements that they are planning to apply for.

  There are 6 professional certificates for foundation level:
  • Professional Certificate in Online Teaching\ Training (OTT)- Foundation Level
  • Professional Certificate in eLearning Experience Design (eLXD)-Foundation Level
  • Professional Certificate in eLearning Quality Assurance (eLQA)-Foundation Level
  • Professional Certificate in eLearning Content Development (eLCD)-Foundation Level

3. Obtain a training certificate on the NeLC Professional Certificate-Foundation Level one of the listed institutions on the NeLC Professional Certificates Platform.
4. Hours of practice in the field of the professional certificate at one of the accredited institutions by the competent authority after earning the NeLC Professional Certificate-Foundation Level, and upload proof for that. 

• What are the providers of training in NeLC Professional Certificates - Foundation Level?

• How to apply for the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level?

  The tests will be conducted at selected institutions.

• Is there a specific grade to pass the test?
  No, the result will be pass or fail.

• What is the type of test?
  All the tests are computerized. 

• What is the type of questions?
  MCQs.

• How many questions on the test?
  80 questions.

• What is the test duration?
  From 1-3 PM.

• What are the tests centers?
  The tests will be conducted at the ETEC computerized exam centers across Kingdom.   These centers are listed on the ETEC website, as you can choose the center while applying for the test.

• What are the exam preparation references?
  You can view the competencies, indicators and weights for each certificate on which the test questions will be built, in addition to the induction program for certificate competencies, and training courses by the institutions recommended by the NeLC, and they can be found on the page of each certificate: الرئيسية | الشهادات  المهنية الاحترافية (nelc.gov.sa)

• What is the test language?
  Arabic language.

• What is the validity period of the Professional Certificate -  Advanced Level?
  4 years

• What are the required documents for experience proof?
  Attach the proof of experience, regardless of the type or title of the document, indicating the period of experience.

• Does the appointing resolution count as a proof of experience?
  Yes if it states the experience years and that the applicant is still on the job.
• Can we renew the NeLC Professional Certificate -  Advanced Level?
  Yes, by applying for the test again.

 

• What is the mechanism followed if I encounter a problem with registering on the Professional Certificates Platform?

• What is meant by the developmental points?
  After earning the certificate, the applicant should start to collect developmental points in the field of the professional certificate i.e. (attend or participate in workshops, seminars, conferences, or providing papers, and awareness or volunteering activities) and provide proof for that. 

 

• Who is responsible for validating the required developmental points?
  The validation process is done by the NeLC technical team.

 

• What is the consequence for the beneficiary who earned the NeLC Professional Certificate - Advanced Level if the developmental points were not updated on the platform throughout the 4 years?
  The certificate will be suspended, and will be resumed after submitting the required points.

     5. Fees and Payment

• Can I refund the fees during the application period?
  The refund duration doesn’t exceed 14 days from the date of payment.

• What is the required fee to issue the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level?
  The fees for issuing the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level is 500SAR, and if the applicant earned the NeLC Professional Certificate - Advanced Level, the Foundation Level amount will be deducted from its fees. 

• Are the required fee for training includes the fees to issue the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level?
  No.

• What is the required fee to issue the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level?
• You can review the training fee through the official website of the providers listed on the NeLC Professional Certificates Platform.

• What is the required fee for the test and issuing the NeLC Professional Certificate - Foundation Level?
  1500SAR
• In case I fail, can I retake the test?
  The test can be retaken once, with a fee of 400 SAR, so that the retake of the exam and the next exam is scheduled within one year from the date of your first test.

     6. Suspension and Cancellation

• What is meant by suspension of Professional Certificate?
  The certificate is not valid or recognized until the until the suspension is lifted.

• If the Professional Certificate is suspended, is the suspension period counted from the 4 years validity of the certificate?

• Are the NeLC Professional Certificates supported by HRDF?

• What support does the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) provide for the NeLC Professional Certificates?
  
  HRDF provides the following support to the professional certificates:
• Reimbursement for the costs of training and the issuance of the foundation level certificate - according to the requirements and controls of the HRDF.
  
  
• Reimbursement for the costs of tests and the issuance of the advanced level certificate - according to the requirements and controls of the HRDF.
  
  
• When is the reimbursement for the costs of the professional certificate obtained?
  
  The reimbursement is received after earning the NeLC Professional Certificate - Advanced Level according to the requirements and controls of the HRDF.

• What levels does the HRDF support cover for training fees on the professional certificate?
  
  All levels are covered after earning the NeLC Professional Certificate - Advanced Level according to the requirements and controls of the HRDF.

  The support is obtained according to the requirements and controls of HRDF.

     8. Makken Initative

• What is Makken Initative?
  Through the initiative, the National eLearning Center enables university graduates enrolled in university programs that are aligned with the competencies of NeLC professional certificates to obtain one or more professional certificates.
  The initiative includes the university programs related to the eLearning fields (higher diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the fields of eLearning and educational technologies).

• What is the target group?
  Graduates of Saudi universities whose academic programs have been aligned with the professional certificates.

• What is the purpose of Makken?
  Enabling the graduates of programs related to eLearning to earn the NeLC Professional Certificates to develop their skills and capabilities to meet the labor market needs and achieve excellence in performance and enhance trust in practices. 

 

• What are the Professional Certificates included in the alignment?
  Alignment is available with all Professional Certificates- Foundation Level.

 

• Is there any fees to benefit from the initiative?
  No, at least 3 professional certificates are offered for the graduate.

 

• What is the agreement duration of the initiative?
  3 years, subject to renewal.

 

• What is the academic program alignment level in the professional certificates?
  The alignment is with the Professional Certificates’ Foundation Level.

 

• Do universities align all their academic programs related to the fields of eLearning with all certificates?
  
  No, as aligning the professional certificates with the acedia programs is done based on the program’s learning outcomes, where these outcomes are aligned with the certificate competencies.
• Does the initiative include former graduates of university programs related to the fields of eLearning?
  
  The initiative includes the students enrolled in existing academic programs from the year of signing the agreement with the university.
